Youngblood: Part 3 - Next Pressings

In addition to the four new releases, Youngblood also had some new pressings of older records available.

First up is the second pressing of the Number-ology 7 inch from Lion Of Judah. While I enjoyed this 7 inch when it was originally released back in 2010, I don't think I spent a lot of time with it. Lately though, it seems like I've been listening to this band more and more. I've been looking to add some more LOJ vinyl to the collection, so this was a nice addition. 350 pressed on clear.

When the first Iron Age LP, Constant Struggle, was released in 2006, I probably only listened to it a handful of times. I thought it was okay at the time, but I was too busy comparing it to Far From Breaking, and didn't really appreciate it like I do today.

When Sean Youngblood put up the four record pre-order back in December, he also made available the last few copies of the Youngblood Ten Year Anniversary press for the Constant Struggle LP that he found laying around. After buying the pre-order press for this LP back in 2006, I then proceeded to ignore all other pressings that Youngblood did for this album. My loss, and now I've got to try and catch up. This copy is a good place to start.

Yes, another Youngblood release that I didn't appreciate at the time of it's release. The Escapades LP from Justice seemed like such a departure from the excellent Elephant Skin album. Just like the Iron Age LP, I was one and done...I grabbed the pre-order and then ignored all other pressings. Man, I'm kicking myself now, but at least it will be fun trying to track down what I've missed.

Along with the pre-orders, Youngblood also released the Final Pressing for the Escapades LP. White vinyl with a screened cover. Determined to not miss anymore Youngblood pressings, I quickly added this one to my cart before they were gone.

Three For One Trade

A few weeks back, I had posted about the Record Store Day pressing for the Sick Of It All 7 inch. Over a couple of months leading up to Record Store Day, Marcus had mentioned that he had a few records that he was setting aside, and was planning on sending me. When he requested that I pick him up a copy of the new Sick Of It All pressing, I didn't hesitate to help him out. I've never really traded records before, but this one just kind of fell into place.

I've never been a huge fan of Iron Age. When Constant Struggle was released in 2006, the hardcore community seemed to lose their shit over the band. I know that you can't really compare the two, and it was unfair of me to do so, but all I could think was that it wasn't anywhere as good as Far From Breaking. The metal influenced hardcore thing doesn't typically sit well with me. I love metal, and I love hardcore, but mixing the two tends to leave me unimpressed. Marcus went on and on about how good the new album, The Sleeping Eye, was. When he ended up with an extra copy, I finally gave in and told him that I would take it off his hands.

It has taken me a few years, but I'm finally catching on to the Iron Age hype. This album is pretty sick. The riffs are amazing, and the entire thing is heavy as fuck. You win Marcus. This is a great album.


I dig the stark black and white image for this UK pressing. The whole packaging on this is really well done. Hand numbered out of 100.

The other record that Marcus had set aside for me was the red vinyl pressing of the Billingsgate LP. He had picked this up from someone that was selling their collection, and I'm thankful that he grabbed this one for me. I'm a big fan of Billingsgate, yet I did not own their No Apologies LP on vinyl. This oversight has now been corrected.


Solid looking piece of red vinyl. I have no idea on any of the Nemesis pressing info, so I don't know how many of these exist.

The final piece of vinyl was the Time Flies 7 inch. I recently posted about the Misfits rip off cover that the band did for this record. Marcus mentioned that he had an extra copy of the Captain Harlock cover, and asked if I wanted it. Right on.

Hard As Iron

I'm still not really sure how I feel about the Iron Age 7 inch, The Way Is Narrow, that was released last year on Painkiller Records. First of all, the cover art is absolutely killer...I love the 60's psych vibe of the whole thing, and might have bought this based on the cover alone. The two songs on the record are pretty good, I guess. Everyone seems to be loving this band right now, but I think it will take some time for me to really grasp this one. There are a lot of layers here for me to dig through, and while it didn't really grab me right off, this is getting better with each listen. I'll keep spinning it, and see if I want to invest in the new LP they just released.

Iron Age

I received my Iron Age pre-order from Youngblood records. It is on yellow vinyl with the deluxe embossed cover. Pretty slick looking. I saw them open up the Planet Mental record release show. The singer used to front Far From Breaking, and a friend told me that FFB were better, with more of straight forward 'youth crew' hardcore sound. I had never heard either band. Iron Age bored me at the show, although this album rocks a damn good hardcore style with some touches of early Metallica-type metal. I bought a Far From Breaking 7 inch at the Posi-Numbers festival, and I would agree with my friend and take FFB over Iron Age. This is still a good album though, and since I've been entertaining the thought of collecting all Youngblood releases, it made sense to get the pre-order.
