Electrified Waste

Electrified Brain is the seventh album from Municipal Waste. I was obviously going to buy it, but seven albums in, I wasn't sure if Municipal Waste was still going to be interesting. I mean, while I have liked all the other MW records, I find that I don't really return to them that often. Still, when preorders when up, I was there adding the record to my cart.

The record surprised me. I don't think it is any different from the other Municipal Waste alubms, but there is something about Electrified Brain that grabbed me from the start. This record rips and is a lot of fun to listen to. Maybe it is because I haven't discovered any newer bands that are playing straight forward thrash, but this album feels fresh to my ears.

I'm liking the look of that blue marbled vinyl.

Wave Of Waste

A couple years ago, I caught Municipal Waste live for the first time. Holy shit. I hadn't been to a show with so much stagediving in a long time. It was amazing, and it made me appreciate the band so much more. It has been a couple of years since the Waste have released anything, but anything they do is an instant-buy, so as soon as preorders were up for their latest EP, The Last Rager, I was placing an order.

Nothing new here, so if you don't already enjoy Municipal Waste, this isn't going to convert you...however, if you are a fan, these four songs will not disappoint. Typical Municipal Waste lyrics, and topics don't get very deep, but if you are here to just thrash, you'll be fine.

Waste Punishment

After busting out a new Thrash album every couple of years since 2003, Municipal Waste has been quiet since 2012's Fatal Feast. There may have been five years of silence, but band members have kept busy with other projects...and with Iron Reagan releasing a new record earlier this year, I really wasn't expecting a new slab of wax from Municipal Waste.

This record was a blind buy. Hell, I didn't even dick around with the video that was released for Breathe Grease...no need for preview...I figured that I'd dive into the full album once it arrived. A new Waste record is always welcome in my collection, and Slime And Punishment does not disappoint. Full on thrash.

I'm not normally a splatter vinyl guy, but this green and yellow pressing is a perfect match with the album cover. 500 pressed.

Speed Metal Punx

I love Municipal Waste. I love Toxic Holocaust. Put them on a split together and I'm all over it.

Blood, guts, and toxic waste. That album cover is so Metal. Love it.

One of the main reasons that I chose to order this particular pressing was the name of the color that the label had come up with. Limited to 250 for "PP Spill" colored vinyl. That is some bright yellow urine.

I had to do a double take when I saw the three X's on the back cover. Straight Edge? No, just a warning for the Xtra loud Thrash.

Waste In Space

Somehow I missed out on the colored vinyl for the last Municipal Waste LP, Massive Aggressive. I wasn't going to let that happen this year, and as soon as I saw that preorders were up for the new album, I was placing my order.

First off, the album cover for The Fatal Feast rules, okay? I love it. It's totally Metal and it's much better than the cover of their last album. The songs themselves are pretty good...at times I hear some serious Nuclear Assault influence in the vocals...oh hey, look at that, John Connelly does guest vocals on the title track which you can check out here. The album is pretty solid...not as good as their previous stuff, but it's still some good Thrash.

The radioactive yellow vinyl just seems like a perfect fit for Municipal Waste. Lookin' good.

I Was So Wasted

Municipal Waste's new album continues to fuck you up. They continue with their devastating brand of Thrash, but this time their sound seems have a bit more of a punk/hardcore flavor. Damn, this album is so good. I was thinking that Earache only released the vinyl pressing on black vinyl and picture disk, but I just did a quick eBay search and found that they also did purple, white, red, green and clear colored vinyl. There were 1,000 pressed on black, but each color was limited to 100. It seems that all the colored vinyl is sold out, so I'll probably be settling with only the black pressing.
