Has it really been almost 6 years since Lion of Judah released their Universal Peace LP? Wow, I've been doing this blog for a long time.
A month or so back, I was obsessing over Lion of Judah vinyl. My LOJ collection is pretty small, with only 4 pieces of vinyl, and because I was listening to them a lot at the time, I was looking to expand. A quick eBay search turned up this Euro tour pressing. Now, I've never really paid a lot of attention to Lion of Judah vinyl...Hell, I didn't even remember that Powered did a pressing of this album...but this was the first time that I seen this limited tour cover. I'm a sucker for this kind of thing, an therefore I desperately wanted it.
I really like the look and feel of this special cover and lyric sheet. Limited to 300.

Ok, so I just saw this post & thought "hmmm, I'm not fussed that I don't have this one. It looks like a pretty ugly variant". But then, because you mentioned how many pieces of LOJ vinyl you have, I decided to count how many I have too. So I went to my collection spreadsheet and counted six 7"s and six LPs. But get this - one of the LPs I have is this euro tour press of Universal Peace that you're blogging about. I wondered if it was a spreadsheet error as I have no memory of ever seeing this before. So I went to my shelf and, lo and behold, there is was. I was holding this thing in my hands. I had no idea I owned this, and two minutes previous I didn't think I had ever even seen it before.
This story made me laugh so loud that my wife started giving me a funny look. As bad as you think this cover may look, at least it looks better than the Stiggy Goes South cover from the first 7 inch.

the limited sound a furry / tour cover for the soul power 7" is also pretty repulsive.

Wow...that one is bad!
I'd seen that stiggy goes south cover before, and it is bad, but jesus christ... that S&F one has to be without doubt THE worst record cover I have ever seen.
Glad my previous comment made you laugh!
I remember when I was about 19 and just starting to get into collecting and I met this older collector dude, and I remember talking to him and him saying stuff like "yeah, I think I've got the first earth crisis 7" on green... or it might be blue". Something like that. And all I could think at the time was "jesus, how the hell can you not even know what you've got?". And here I am years later and I am that guy. Only worse. Not only do I not know what colors I have got, I don't even know what records I've got!
On a similar note, I also found a First Step LP on white vinyl a couple of weeks ago when I was tidying up & I had no idea I owned that either. I had no memory of picking it up, and as hard as I tried I couldn't remember where I got it. In the end I searched my blog and found it there, which at least confirmed that I wasn't going insane & aliens hadn't beamed it into my house.
Also, on an LOJ note, I saw them play in 2006 or so. The singer did some speech before some song, saying about "this song is about a woman's right to choose", and without thinking I just shouted "boo!" really loud, and loads of people laughed. The singer didn't look too impressed though. But hey, fuck it, "this ain't the 90s" is all I was thinking. Ha!
That LOJ story is too funny. See, the singer had the opportunity to play it off as the intended joke and amend his comment with "this song is about a woman's right to choose...to never have sex with that guy". No need for an Ebullition style frown.
Hey Mike,
if you're looking for more LOJ vinyl on Powered hit me up. Or anyone else for that matter. I still have mint copies of the regular black and the color vinyl version.
Take care
Guido
