Demo 08 Test Press

As I continue to sink into dementia and short term memory loss, thinking that I'm still in 2010 and having fun buying multiple copies of records, I figured that I might as well pick up my fifth copy of the Alert demo 7 inch.

Alert were a straight edge band from Massachusetts that released this demo plus a 7 inch on Six Feet Under Records. I saw the band play live a number of times while they were around, and to give you an idea of how different those days were, when I introduced myself to the singer, he was like "Oh hey, you are that guy that does the record collecting blog!" Ahhh...the glory days of blogger celebrity. Ha! Here I am all those years later still writing this nonsense and buying the same records.

I love the front cover design for the test pressing of the Alert demo 7 inch. I have an old Alert shirt with this design, so it is cool to see it used here as well. Number 2 of 18.

Outlast and Alert Second Pressings

In addition to the new Losin' It record, Life To Live also release second pressings for the Outlast and Alert demo 7 inches.

The Outlast demo from 2009 was a promising start, and they got even better with 2010's Take Control 7 inch on Bottled Up. Can't wait to see what their Harvcore record brings later this year.

Nothing too special about the second pressing of this record. The black vinyl is identical to the first pressing, the only difference is the hand numbered dust sleeve. Number 3 out of 100.

The Alert 7 inch at least comes with an altered cover to differentiate it from the first pressing.

Like the Outlast 7 inch, this one come with a hand numbered dust sleeve. Number 2 out of 100. I'm liking these low numbers!

With this latest Alert pressing, I decided to pull them all out for a photo. I was thinking that I was only missing the test pressing for the Demo '08 vinyl, but then I remembered that they did a very limited tour pressing for this record as well. I guess I need two more to fully complete this collection.

Test Press Alert

Back at the end of October, Six Feet Under put up a bunch of eBay auctions. One of the records was the test pressing for the new Alert 7 inch. Within two days, the auction was up to $63.00. What the fuck? There were still five days left. Kids need to calm the fuck down. I was really struggling with some money issues, and when the record sold for $72.00, it was too rich for my blood and I was out.

Mike Puffer sings for Alert. Mike is a pretty nice dude, and we've spent some time at shows hanging out and talking. A couple weeks after the SFU auctions, Mike sent me a message, asking if I was interested in buying an Alert test press directly from him. I was still broke, but the price was lower that the one that SFU sold...plus it was coming from Puffer. I don't like turning down these offers, so I accepted.

The test press comes with a special cover and is limited to just 13.

I thanked Puffer for the offer, told him that the payment had been sent, and let him know that the only pressing I was missing for the Find Your Way 7 inch was the one that Six Feet Under did for the Sound & Fury fest. Much to my surprise, Mike threw a copy in with the test pressing he sent me.

Limited to 54 and packaged with a special cover for the fest. Awesome record, great dudes, straight edge.

Alert Record Release

I loved the 2008 demo from Alert, and have been eagerly awaiting some new material from this band. Mike and Keith are such nice dudes, and I will travel to Massachusetts whenever I get the opportunity to see them play live. Therefore, I was really happy to hear that Six Feet Under was releasing their new record. These guys deserve nothing but the best, so I hope that SFU gives them a lot more exposure.

While the new record should be shipping in the next few weeks, Alert played their record release show recently and a special pressing available. The show was in Pennsylvania, I believe, and not in their home state, so there was no way that I was going to be able to make it. Come on boys...what were you thinking?!?! Still, they were nice enough to put the leftover merch up in their webstore and I was able to grab the record release pressing.
